Although the development of transponders is constantly ongoing, there is not the one tag for all applications in the shelf. A small footprint e.g. compromises reading distance. and a rough environment may exclude the use of labels. Also mechanical, thermal and chemical process conditions determine the selection of the “right” tag. The temperature range that tags normally can sustain is from about -30°C to +85°C. Many tags feature ingress protection rate of IP65 and are thus protected against humidity. However in production processes temperatures considerably exceeding 100°C are not at all surprising. Also mechanical and chemical stress can be outside the limits of standard tags. Then special tags are required. Vast combinations of stress factors with endless individual peculiarity allow only for basic parameters to be specified for load limits of special tags. Whether a certain tag provides the required process stability should always be proven in a test executed in the real process. Im intensiven Austausch mit ausgewiesenen Experten der Ausrüstungstechnik wird über aktuelle Entwicklungen in der Papierausrüstung informiert, um bei den komplexen Vorgängen bessere Ergebnisse im Hinblick auf die Produktqualität und die Kosten zu erzielen. Ein Thema ist dabei die Lagerlogistik ohne Barcode und RFID, präsentiert von IdentPro.  Der RTLS-Spezialist aus Sankt Augustin hat ein System für die automatische und stellplatzgenaue Verfolgung von Papierrollen, die mit Klammerstaplern transportiert werden, entwickelt.  „Barcodes sind für eine effiziente Identifizierung der Papierrollen vom Stapler aus ungeeignet. Die Rolle kann z.B. so positioniert sein, dass ein Barcode auf der Rollenrückseite zu finden ist und der Fahrer für das Scannen des Barcodes vom Stapler absteigen muss. Restrollen haben i.d.R. keinen Barcode. RFID-Transponder erfordern eine aufwändige technische Ausrüstung an den Klammern und müssen bereits bei der Produktion einer Papierrolle am Rollenkern befestigt werden. Sie bedeuten zudem laufende Kosten“, erklärt Michael Wack, Geschäftsführer von IdentPro. „Unser System nutzt die Koordinaten der Papierrollen im Lager für deren automatische Identifikation beim Aufnehmen. Stapler sind das Rückgrat intralogistischer Prozesse in vielen Unternehmen. Überlegungen, Standorte und Ladungen von Staplern automatisch zu erfassen, sind nicht neu. Für die Lokalisierung der Fahrzeuge bietet ein optisches System mit decken-montierten Positionsmarken entscheidende Vorteile bei Flexibilität, Präzision und Verfügbarkeit. Anders, als bei RFID-basierten Ansätzen mit diskreter Positionsermittlung, ist die permanente Verfolgung der Fahrzeuge problemlos und bei allen Bodenausführungen möglich. Im Unterschied zu Funk-basierten Systemen entfällt bei einem optischen System der regelmäßige Kalibrierungsaufwand. Zudem ist hohe Präzision mit weniger Aufwand erzielbar. Ein optisches System benötigt zwingend die jederzeitige und uneingeschränkte Verfügbarkeit von Orientierungspunkten um eine reproduzierbare absolute Genauigkeit zu erreichen. Besonders in Blocklägern ist hohe Präzision kritisch. Ein Wert von besser, als 10 cm, ist eine sichere Bank.  Die Hallendecke bietet als Montageort für optische Positionsmarken gegenüber dem Boden essentielle Vorteile. Die Decke ist immer sichtbar und verfügbar. Der Boden ist Lager- und Bewegungsfläche; Ware, Fahrzeuge, Personen können am Boden angebrachte Referenzflächen abdecken und damit eine sichere Positionserkennung verhindern. Auch durch Abnutzung können die Flächen unbrauchbar werden, z.B. bei dem in der Praxis gängigen Schieben von Ladung. Die Erneuerung unlesbarer Bodenmarken kostet Geld und bedeutet Einschränkungen bei der Nutzung des Systems.  Findet die Ortung der Stapler über die Decke statt, kann das Lager dagegen vollkommen frei belegt und jederzeit wechselnden Bedingungen angepasst werden. So wird kostspieliger Lagerplatz stets optimal genutzt. Wartungsarbeiten sind überflüssig. Die Position der Stapler wird auf die Ladungen übertragen. Dies geschieht in Verbindung mit einer automatischen Ladungserkennung sowie dem automatischen Erkennen von Aufnehmen und Absetzen von Ladung,. So wird auf Basis der Staplerposition der Standort von Waren und Behältern automatisch erfasst. Aufgrund der vollkommenen Transparenz des Lagers entfällt das Suchen nach bestimmten Waren und kein Kunde oder Produktionsleiter geht mehr wegen falscher oder fehlender Lieferung an die Decke.
