Saving cost with RFID

Increase transparency, reduce failures = Save cost

Many cost drivers are not visible at first glance or seem to be relatively small. This may be a reason why processes get not improved. RFID technology helps to exploit hidden profits.

Following please find examples for annual cost saving potentials. We are ready to talk to you about the opportunities in your business. Just drop us a mail or call at +49 (0)22 41 / 866 392-0. We are looking forward to talking to you.

Container management: Avoiding production downtimes

The advantages of RFID transponders versus barcode also support the effective container management: no reading problems when dirty, no line of sight required and information carried can be adapted. Also containers can function as Kanban.

At all relevant places the containers are automatically registered leading to an always up to date image of the containers actual positions. This great transparency allows for better steering options and reduces the risk for production stops due to missing transportation capacity. Additionally the stock of loading aids can be reduced as the average usage per container increases and need for “safety stock” decreases.

Mobile weighing system: Saving time, space, manpower, improving handling

Are you using stationary scales in your warehouse? Using the identPLUS system with the mobile weighing option will save you time, space, manpower: real money.

With mobile scales you weigh during transport. The actual weight of the load will automatically be allocated to that load as a property. Even the actual tare can be taken account of. Additionally the actual storage location can automatically be registered with the back-end system.

Kanban: Avoiding production stops, saving time

Working with Kanban requires constant discipline from all employees involved. Information on status changes must be forwarded immediately in order to gain the principle’s benefits.

Using a RFID Kanban letterbox saves staff e.g. manual scanning of barcodes from the cards. When a stationary scanner is employed the warming up process may cause a delay before scanning can take place. In reality this can lead to collecting Kanbans and scanning those in one go at the end of the shift.

Order Picking: Avoiding wrong shipments, saving time

Providing material for production or order picking in distribution are central tasks in many companies. Picking the wrong goods or taking the correct ones to the wrong exit throws a wrench in the works.

RFID allows for automated monitoring of correct execution of orders. By avoiding mistakes customer complaints and their follow-up cost decrease and the picking efficiency per staff increases.

Service documentation: Saving time, improving handling

RFID helps saving time and money when identifying parts to be maintained and when documenting the service executed. The parts in question are equipped with a transponder that can e.g. carry the item serial number and the date of the next due service.

Via a handheld the technician reads the transponder data even without direct line of sight between handheld and transponder or when the transponder is dirty. This may avoid disassembling the part for identification.

On the handheld the required service steps are displayed and checked off step by step when finished. There is no need to fill in papers. The service report can immediately be transmitted to a central office.  As all data is already digitized also the second manual data input is dispensable.

All data on the handheld like check lists, service instructions, etc. can easily be updated. Overall the quality of information rises.
